Martigues, The Venise of Provence

(Duration of the tour 3h)

Only half an hour from Marseille, the town of Martigues, known as The Venice of Provence with its eight bridges and

three canals, is of great beauty.

As you stroll through the three beautifully flowered districts of the city centre, you will discover a cultural and architectural heritage (remarkable historical  buildings, old fishermen's houses of all colours reflected in the waters of the canal, traditional "pointus" (boats) that sway rhythmically in the port.

Endowed with a certain charm and bathed in an exceptional luminosity, Martigues and its « Miroir aux Oiseaux » (Birds' Mirror) have been the inspiration for many great impressionist painters such as Ziem, Delacroix or Dufy.

Martigues also makes its cinema !

It is a unique playground and setting for contemporary film directors and sculptors whose astonishing bronze statues you will appreciate along the way.
